Ichetucknee Blue Hole Vortex

The Blue Hole spring vent at Ichetucknee Springs State Park. The Blue Hole is a first magnitude spring where water emerges at 72 degrees year round from the limestone caverns of the Floridan Aquifer. The flow of the spring is strong and spreads out in circular waves across the spring basin. Fish, turtles and birds inhabit this lush blueness in the midst of subtropical forest. When the light is just right the sand at the bottom of the Blue Hole spring cavern is illuminated, making for a spectacular effect.
